Making something new from something old

As a textile artist rooted in Oregon's creative landscape, I transform discarded materials into contemporary works that bridge Scandinavian minimalism with American folk traditions. Through my hands and trusty sewing machine, I create pieces that honor both our planet's resources and the rich heritage of textile craftsmanship.

My commitment to sustainability goes beyond philosophy—each piece diverts textiles from waste streams while challenging fast fashion's throwaway culture. This practice began in my teenage years when I discovered the treasure trove of secondhand shops, developing an eye for forgotten fabrics with untold potential. What started as necessity in my Midwestern basement sewing room has evolved into an ethical cornerstone of my artistic practice.

My work draws from diverse influences: the clean lines and palettes of Scandinavian design, the narrative richness of American folk art, the structural wisdom of traditional quilting, the spontaneity of improvisation, and the natural and human experience of imperfection allows for a therapeutic process of letting go while creating. This eclectic foundation allows me to create textiles that feel both timeless and contemporary.

My 15+ years in graphic and communication design inform every creative decision, from color relationships and compositional balance to how each piece communicates its story. This background helps me approach textile work with both an artist's intuition and a designer's strategic eye.

Each piece is thoughtfully crafted in small collections, ensuring artistic integrity while honoring the unique character of the reclaimed materials. In a world of mass production, I offer something imperfectly made by the human hand.
